The Walton County Council on Aging provides the following services/activities:
Congregate Meals – these are meals served at our sites within Walton County 5 days a week
Meals on Wheels – Meals delivered to the seniors of Walton County who are home bound, we also have frozen meals for seniors that are not homebound but can not get to any of our sites
Education Programs to include Medicare programs, eating right, physical activities, fall prevention, free health screenings, legal aid helping seniors to get any required paperwork done for entitlements/signing up for programs,etc
Alzheimer’s Disease Day Care a center for clients with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia to interact with others, activities include crafts, music, games, etc
Shopping Assistance taking clients shopping or going shopping for them
Homemaking light housekeeping
Personal Care helping with baths, grooming, dressing etc
Home Maintenance doing minor home repairs, building ramps, light painting, and some yard work
Respite Care allows a full time caregiver a break during a day
Case Management overseeing clients that need additional assistance’s
Loan closet open to anyone, which has medical & non-medical supplies
Emergency Energy Assistance for the Elderly a program for any senior over 60 to help pay either their utility bill, fill a propane tank, purchases A/C units or space heater etc
Social Activities to include a Senior Day Spring Fish Fry, a Fall Fish Fry, a Christmas banquet, bingo and other games at our senior centers/meal sites, painting classes at our senior centers/ meals sites, potlucks and holiday/seasonal parties at our senior centers/meal sites
